We are proud to share our results from this year’s Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards, Whitestone Cheese Co. were awarded a total of 9 medals – 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze!
Whitestone’s Gold Medal winners include Ferry Road Halloumi, Vintage Windsor Blue and Vintage Five Forks.
Hitting the shelves in 2015, Whitestone’s Ferry Road Halloumi is fast becoming a NZ favourite, perfect pan-fried or served straight from the BBQ grill. Try our Halloumi ‘chips’ at the Catalina Bay Farmers Market.
Vintage Windsor Blue is once again claiming its spot after achieving a category win from the same awards in 2017 and a Silver Medal at the World Championship Cheese Contest, 2016. Most notable is recent the export of Vintage Windsor Blue into France – further cementing it as an iconic NZ cheese.
Vintage Five Forks is a seasonal semi-hard cheese made of a 50/50 mix of goat and cow milk, one of Whitestone’s premium Black Label range.
Silver Medal products include our acclaimed Windsor Blue, Lindis Pass Brie, Mt Domet Double Cream Brie and Probiotic Camembert.
Also claiming a Silver Medal in the Paddock category, the ‘Shenley Station Blue and Beef Pie’. This delicious gourmet pie came about as a collaboration between Whitestone and Delectables Bakery (Nathan and Amie Rawson) of Oamaru. A ‘true blue’ NZ pie with a melt in the mouth savoury & sweet mix of Shenley Station Blue cheese, kumara, beef steak and hand rolled pastry. These pie creations can be found at the Whitestone Cheese Store, Catalina Bay Farmers Market and Delectables Bakery.
Our latest creation, Shenley Station Blue was awarded a Bronze Medal. Production of Shenley Station Blue only started at the end of 2017 after an extensive bio-prospecting project searching for an original New Zealand blue mould Penicillium Roqueforti strain.
